History of The Tee PeeThis building, now occupied by the Teepee Supper Club, has an interesting and historic past. Originally, in 1890, 40 by 100-foot livery stable was built. It was the leading and most up-to-date livery stable of its kind and was owned by Louie Knobloch, a well known farmer of the county who also conducted an automobile service. This was the place where people congregated and discussed the events of the day. The stock contained a number of carriages, boggles, etc., having every modern device for the care of horses and carriages. The livery stable employed several stable men and grooms, and careful drivers were furnished on all occasions when required. Then after the turn of the century it was converted into the Tomah Theatre. Some of you may remember those Saturday afternoon matinees ...the popular balcony...and the 13-cent ticket. Yes, those were the days. Finally, in 1960, it became the home of the Teepee Supper Club, and as always, this spot on Superior Avenue is the gathering place for Tomah residents and Its visitors. Allan "Ed" Thompson purchased the Teepee in 1990. He operated the business until 1992, when It was sold. In May 1993, Ed got the business back again and reopened. A new addition with beautiful banquet room and new restrooms was first used New Year's Eve 1997. The Teepee is still Tomah's "gathering" place, hosting almost all of the civic organizations such as Rotary, Lions, Lionesses, ABWA, and the Tomah Women's Club, in addition to family reunions, wedding rehearsals, showers, anniversary parties, etc. The Teepee is also host to the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, offering free dinners in-house, along with carry-outs, As Tomah continues to grow, so does the Tee Pee Supper Club. For the finest in causal dining, or just a place to meet friends and "discuss the events of the day," the Tee Pee is prepared to meet your needs. Contact Information
